Etobicoke is the borough to the west in Toronto.
To the south of Etobicoke is Lake Ontario, on the east by the Humber River, on the west Etobicoke borders the city of Mississauga, and on the north borders abuts the city of Vaughan.
How did Etobicoke get its name. Well, the Mississauga described the land between Etobicoke Creek and the Humber River as "the place where the black/wild alders grow" or wah-do-be-kang. Augustus Jones: the first provincial land surveyor, wrote it as "ato-be-coake". Etobicoke was finally adopted as the official name in 1796.
Etobicoke has a large South Asian Population, mostly living in Texdale: the north end of Etobicoke. Rexdale also has a very large African and Caribbean population. and a large number of recent Somali immigrants are settleing in central Etobicoke. All this ethnic diverity, leads to a wider variety of food.
